We are recruiting!
We are currently recruiting executive team members for the 2024-2025 academic year and seeking passionate graduate student leaders to join us in shaping our initiatives! Whether you're interested in organizing events, advocating for mental health, or bringing new ideas to the table, we have exciting leadership roles available. A member of the executive team is expcted to:
- Attend Bi-Weekly Meetings: Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress and plan upcoming initiatives
- Represent Grad Minds: Act as an ambassador for Grad Minds at orientations, outreach, and campus events
- Commit 1-3 Hours Weekly: Dedicate 1-3 hours per week to fulfilling your role and contributing to team efforts
Below are the executive team roles we're currently recruiting for, along with their responsibilities. The deadline for executive team applications is the end of September (2024).
Events & Programming Officers
- Lead, Organize, and Execute Events: Plan and run wellness sessions, social events, and other activities, including booking venues, ordering food, preparing equipment, and managing registration
- Engage with Potential Instructors: Connect with instructors to lead fitness and movement sessions that promote wellness and active living
- Gather Student Input and Feedback: Survey graduate students to understand their event preferences and adjust programming accordingly
- Plan Local and Seasonal Events: Identify local festivals and activities for group outings and community exploration
Policy & Advocacy Advisors
- Collaborate on the Grad Thrive Campaign: Work closely with the VP External and their team to drive mental health initiatives
- Build Partnerships with U of T Services and Departments: Develop connections with key stakeholders to advance mental health advocacy across campus
- Stay Informed: Keep up with initiatives from organizations like the Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health to learn about best practices at other institutions
- Assess Graduate Students' Mental Health Needs: Gather insights on student concerns through surveys, focus groups, and other feedback methods to guide advocacy efforts
Communications & Marketing Officers
- Manage Social Media Platforms: Oversee Instagram, Facebook, and X to promote events, programs, and initiatives through regular posts and engagement
- Create Event Flyers and Posters: Use graphic design skills to design eye-catching flyers, posters, and promotional materials for events and initiatives
- Update and Maintain the Website: Keep the website current with the latest information on events, programs, and announcements
- Design Merchandise: Develop creative merchandise designs that reflect our brand and initiatives
Elemental Magazine Editor-in-Chief
- Recruit and Lead a Creative Team: Assemble and guide a team of graduate student journalists, editors, photographers, and designers to produce the latest edition of Elemental Magazine
- Oversee Magazine Production: Manage the entire production process throughout the school year, ensuring high-quality content and design
- Innovate Content Formats: Explore new ways to operate and produce the magazine, such as incorporating blogs, podcasts, or other knowledge translation methods
